It’s full moon, and it’s beautiful, and I’m

It’s full moon, and it’s beautiful, and I’m just going to dump all these here. Time to time I want to figure out IG algorithms and post once a day, but who am I kidding? Doesn’t seem like my style.

Playing with abstract stuff is fun, and powerful. I actually got into art by abstraction, when I was working through some massive childhood trauma in high school. I was more free with it back in the day, and I’m trying to find that freedom again.

Abstracts stir up a lot of emotions and I find myself sliding into an insomniac phase when I work on these type of stuff. Which is good and bad, but there is something magical about sleeplessness. Abstracts, at least the way I do them, are messy and hard to photograph. Such as life.

There’s a large canvas I need to post here from these series, but I promise gentle watercolors are coming back.

Popping some melatonin the meantime… thanks for witnessing.

Also it will be fun for all those Art Historians to put my paintings under X-ray and discover like 3-4 more paintings. You know, when I’m famous and dead.

But the meantime, I’m putting a few of these post-apocalyptic / nature-takes-back scenes up for a pay what you can deal, before I gesso them all down and create something else on the same canvas.

There are larger oil paintings on canvas, 40x30inch, ready to hang, painted just a few months ago. For reference, the material cost is about $50, and I’m happy to ship them, which within the US, would be around $40-50 with the stretcher frame (ready to hang) or $15-25 rolled up in a tube (will need to be re-stretched). Holler out if you’re interested in having one in your home!

My incredibly talented friend, Willow, at Witching

My incredibly talented friend, Willow, at Witching Hour Textiles, hand-wove this amazing baby wrap, so I can muck the stall in style during our frequent help with Jewel & Jest. First of all, the wrap is beautiful, and it keep Zephyr safe while I feed and clean the horses, but also it gives her the opportunity to connect with Jest (Jewel likes to stay away) while I’m doing all the chores. Willow also embroidered the cutest little mushrooms on the wrap, to honor our forest foraging. Absolutely adore this wearable art piece! Willow is btw a powerhouse of a woman, who is also an amazing musician (like playing the accordion while on stilts kinda badass), and a mama herself. Follow her at @willowrutherfordmusic (though she is mostly not on social media…). ♥️🥰

Johnny Boy was rescued from a backyard hobby farme

Johnny Boy was rescued from a backyard hobby farmer, who raised him for meat. Luckily a neighbor bonded with young Johnny during his continuous escape from his pen, what lead the neighbor convincing the hobby farmer to relinquish Johnny Boy to Woodstock Farm Sanctuary - AND to give up animal farming all together. How amazing!! Johnny, who is named after said neighbor, and now he lives with his old pal, Maribeth. For the most part he is shy of people, but definitely enjoys some Alfalfa treats time to time. He has such an amazing presence: he’s as majestic as he is goofy, and a pleasure to be around!

Angela, the mama sheep of Ethan and Michaela, was rescued from an awful hoarding situation. She was so malnourished at the time, she couldn’t even produce enough milk for her babies, even though she tried her hardest. Angela is now safe & healthy at Woodstock Farm Sanctuary, and just on my personal opinion, she’s one of the sweetest, most beautiful sheep ever.

This beautiful friend is Heathcliff. He is only a 2.5 months old baby, but he already went through so much. Taken from his mama right after birth (as all baby calves in the dairy industry) he found himself tied to a small hutch, raised to become veal. He had a broken tail and an umbilical infection, which is why the farmer listed him on Craigslist at week two (before inevitably he would have been killed), and thankfully Woodstock Farm Sanctuary was able to scoop him up and give him the care, love and space he needs. Heathcliff is fun, friendly, playful and sleepy as all little babies are. You never know what mood he is in when you enter his space. He is just learning to be a cow, and it’s fascinating to watch. Follow the sanctuary’s social media for the cutest updates on him, he really is a riot! I’m so beyond grateful to be able to watch him grow.

Kellen is the sweetest friend! He was rescued from

Kellen is the sweetest friend! He was rescued from an awful neglect & abuse situation on a dairy farm, with his companions, Debbie and Tara. As I mentioned before male animals in the dairy industry are considered useless and a byproduct, and more often then not they are discarded after birth. Kellen however somehow survived this, and now happily living with the senior goats at Woodstock Farm Sanctuary. Kellen does have some health issues, and definitely need some positive thoughts. He’s such a handsome and sweet boy, we hope he recover and will live in safety & good health for many more years!

Did I talked about chicken yet? Those of you who knows me, knows I adore chicken and really hope to one day have a set up to be able to offer home to a flock or two. Chicken are fascinating, smart little animals, with such fun personalities. Unfortunately for them they are also the most exploited animals on the planet, by far, from meat to egg industry, regardless of large or small scale farms (or backyards) they are living on. Meat chicken are bread to grow way big, way fast, while laying hens are bread to lay 300+ eggs a year vs. the normal 12-15 they would lay, before humans fucked up their system. It’s an unfortunate situation, as even those in safety are still laying eggs (even when put on birth control implants,) and more often then not developed reproductive cancer. Not to mention the story of roosters, who are similarly to dairy baby boy cows, considered a byproduct, and are discarded right after hatching. There’s a lot more to this, so much of it I’m still learning and researching, but the bottom line is that chicken are awesome, so please stop eating them & and their eggs.
